Statement of Purpose:

The Hall of Fame of the Flat-Coated Retriever Society of America, Inc., honors Flat-Coated Retrievers that have achieved extraordinary success in their chosen fields, and at the same time have proven that they reflect the dual purpose nature of the breed. Inherent in the requirements for admission to the Hall Of Fame is the intention to foster the historical concept of the Flat-Coated Retriever as a dual purpose dog and to see this exhibited in each individual dog.

Fixed Requirements:

For the Best In Show Dog must also have WCX or JH
For the Obedience Trial Champion Must also have WCX or JH and CH
For the Field Champion or Amateur Field Champion Must also have a CH
For all other dogs A Working Certificate Excellent (WCX) or Junior Hunter title (JH) and bench Championship.

Point Requirements:

Dogs must accumulate 90 points, 10 of which may come from the accomplishments of their first generation progeny.

Other Regulations Governing Admittance:

Progeny points are awarded for accomplishments of each individual offspring. Bitches multiply the progeny points awarded for achievement by 1.5. A maximum of 10 points for progeny accomplishments, of which no more than 5 points may come from one area, i.e. conformation, field, obedience, tracking or agility.

Points are cumulative. A CD or NA is 5 points, a CDX or OA adds to 15 points, and therefore a dog with a UD has accumulated 35 points and a dog with an AX has earned 30 points.

Multiple wins are awarded multiple times unless otherwise stated.

The total number of points allowed from any area is 60 (Exception: Tracking, which is 45) and a dog that uses 60 points in one area must have a minimum level of achievement of Group Placement or Specialty JAM, CDX, VST, TDX, WCX, SH, Qualifying placement/JAM; or OA in one other area. This does not include progeny points and excludes automatic FC/AFC, OTCh and BIS inclusion.

Excepting the WC and WCX, all points must be earned at AKC licensed All-Breed shows or trials, or the FCRSA, Inc. National Specialty show or trial or test.

Neutered Dogs: After accumulating all necessary points and fulfilling the necessary requirements for admittance to the HOF, the owner or breeder of a neutered dog may apply to the FCRSA, Inc. to have the bench requirement waived. The dog must be determined to be an adequate specimen of Flat-Coat breed type. Procedure for meeting the criteria is under development.

ILP Dogs: Are not eligible for the HOF.
Foreign Registered Dogs: Are eligible for the HOF.
Foreign accomplishments: Are not included in the point system for HOF.

The person applying for HOF status for a dog must be the owner or breeder of the dog, must be a member in good standing of the FCRSA, Inc., at the time of application and is responsible for submitting verification of the dog's accomplishments.

Verification: All awards must be available by the 12/31 deadline. If the award was earned on 12/30, for instance, it would not have been published and available by this deadline. For each of the dog's accomplishments, one of the following must be submitted for verification:

  1. AKC Gazette, Volume, Issue and Page number.
  2. The Retriever Field Trial News, Volume, Issue and Page number.
  3. An official AKC printout of the dog's record.
  4. Photocopies of official AKC title certificates.

The Society shall maintain a listing of HOF dogs. This listing shall include a photograph of the dog and a complete record of verified accomplishments as provided by the owner or breeder. When necessary, the record of a HOF dog shall be updated and kept current. There will be a HOF Induction Ceremony held each year during the FCRSA, Inc., National Specialty.

The Board of Directors shall appoint a committee (one of whom shall have been on a previous HOF committee) that will review the HOF requirements every 5 years (or sooner if deemed appropriate).
